What is the difference between Gravel and CX bikes?

Without looking carefully, it is difficult to distinguish  gravel bikes  from  CX bikes . Both have road bike handlebars, off-road tires, a more rigid frame and wider tire clearance than their road bike counterparts. So what is the difference? 1. The difference in usage For competitions, UCI has specific rules to manage the manufacturing methods of CX bikes. At least for now, gravel bikes are not subject to any UCI rules. For example, to participate in UCI-approved CX bike competitions, the bike tire width must not exceed 33 mm, so CX bikes rarely provide clearance beyond this range. Unlike  CX bikes, gravel bikes  are usually designed for a variety of purposes, from multi-day bicycle trips to multi-terrain riding near home, and even emerging small off-road venues. 2. Frame geometry difference The geometry of most  gravel bikes  cares more about comfort than cross-country CX bikes. They are designed for riding for days rather than a period of time, and are used to cope with more rugg

Which Freehub Should I Choose For My Cassette?

图片
As technology advances, we have witnessed the evolution of bikes from 8/9/10 speed, to 11 and 12 speed. Nowadays, 11 and 12 speed are the mainstream for  carbon road wheels  and  carbon MTB wheels . During this process, the freehub body of hubs have also evolved so as to match new cassette or free wheel. Thus, the compatibility of freehub and cassette is becoming more and more complicated . In this blog, we summarize the freehubs that are widely used on carbon bike wheels in the market, and explain their compatibility with cassette. There are mainly 3 brands available for road wheel freehub, Shimano, Sram and Campagnolo. Shimano HG 10/11-Speed Road Freehub This freehub is designed for road 11-speed cassette. It is compatible for either Shimano or Sram 11-speed cassette. Besides, it can also fit 10-speed cassette by adding a spacer (1.85mm). Campagnolo 10/11-Speed Road Freehub Campagnolo system is quite different from Shimano and Sram. Campy freehubs are only compatible with Campy cas

Do you need ceramic bearings in carbon gravel wheels?

图片
For many riders, the first concerns might be to improve aerodynamics or reduce weight on carbon bike wheels, while friction is usually an overlooked factor. Currently most of bike hubs are with regular bearings made from stainless steel, while our  ProX 98DB disc hubs  are equipped with ceramic bearings. The greatest advantage of ceramic bearings is lower rolling resistance. Because ceramic bearings are rounder, smoother and with more uniform size than traditional ones. In that case, the friction will be reduced and that can contribute more energy to the wheels while riding. A ceramic bearing is also harder than steel bearings (up to 30%), which improves durability, and they will not rust which requires less maintenance. Why ceramic bearings hubs? - Rounder, smoother and with more uniform size to reduced friction. - Harder than steel bearings which improves durability. - Less maintenance(don’t rust), ideal for the riding throughout the year, regardless of the weather. - Affordable pr
